FILLINGS AND FEELINGS PDF

Image
NEW BOOK: FILLINGS AND FEELINGS NOW AVAILABLE FOR FRE E REVIEW I really commend the use of literary devices in the entire work and the application of creativity. One can digest the true state of the poet’s heart. The feeling from the poems in this chapbook is one that bleeds into one another and could fill the reader’s mind with double charm of love and infatuation. “yet she doesn’t understand you don’t write her love poems to quench her reading thirst” −(Fillings and Feelings) The poet really wants to be in love, but finds it hard to take the yoke off his neck. This piece in its entirety depicts the struggling love life of a poet, who is yet deceived by the ingenious nature of his artistic personality. Can he still find love? She's Obsessed With Star Signs

Image
She's Obsessed With Star Signs "Don't Leave Love To Chance!" was the notification that popped up that Wednesday morning. You reluctantly dragged down the toggle to see it was an e-mail from your daily horoscope update. The content of the mail assured you of finding love before sunset— that's what the tarot says, but you didn't read it to the end. You've been dodging shots for long and still not ready to catch one. But you just wanted to see if the tarot reading is really correct. So you stepped out with a mix of curiosity and nonchallance laced with pessimism. That's the background story you told on the third day you met her. She's the best thing that would happen to you within the next few days. She was standing by your favorite canteen when you saw her. You stared with starstruck awe. She has the body of a billionaire— Dangote's 8 figures has nothing on her. Why then should you leave love to chance? If you would, at least give lust a...

TALES OF BIOLA XIX (Inmate 830945)

Image
TALES OF BIOLA XIX  (Inmate 830945) She's scared, Jittering before my eyes. I never cared, I was rushing to resume a new job. She's my girlfriend not too good with lies. As I opened the front door, I knew something was wrong. First, the hour, too early to expect her return. I couldn't say a word, it'll interrupt my morning song. She gave that shy look of a cat, I knew it was creepy, But her brilliant smile deceived my heart. She walked in slowly but her pace was still unusual, I ignored her, stopped my singing, I was distracted by what's swaying behind her. She took a few steps, turned around; "Kunle, what's the problem?" I quickly looked away and chorused a fib "Something is abnormal about the ground" She looked at me askance, She prolly noticed my ubiquity. She picked her cat-like steps to my bedroom, As I gave her a final glance. If only I knew 'twas our last meeting. Only six months we've been tog...

THE NEGLECTED: TWO TALES

Image
THE NEGLECTED: TWO TALES It all started when I was a kid; Everyday, mom left me at our neighbor's apartment Before going to work. Many times, she'd not care to give food. I was uncared for, Wore torn clothes, No pants, And looked unkempt. Mom wore flashy wears, Expensive wigs, Latest jewellery, And had sumptuous meals at eateries. Everyday, when she came back, She'd call me names, Beat me up, And tell me that I cause her pain. I became a girl with no friend, No one to talk to. I couldn't look into anyone's eyes; Inferiority complex hit me badly. One day, Uncle Sam played a video, Sat very close to me, Wrapped his arm around me, And soon rested his head on my shoulder. I lowered my gaze, But he lifted my head with his finger. He said he loved me, And would take care of me. Uncle Sam paused the video, Ran his hand on his bed, Got a newly bought gown, And asked me to wear it. Looking at the ground with fear, I pulled off ...

ADUNNI

Image
ADUNNI In reminiscence of those days when we were asked to write about  The Day I Will Never Forget, I won't forget the day my happiness was sold out in a reverse fairly tale. My older sister, Adunni's hand was to be given out in marriage as a pawn to the son of my father's creditor. My father is actually a chronic debtor and that was how our oldest sister got married. He sees his daughters as debt replacement plans. An agreement was signed the same day her birth certificate was signed, that she'd be the payment of father's debt. We were never told the actual amount of the loan, but it in our heads, it resonated in father's voice that most of it was spent to add value to our lives. That doesn't stop him from being a chronic debtor—the one that doesn't pay back with money but with elegance with a backside and two melons. The Atlantic City Hall always has a beguiling view, but this day, it shone at par with the sun in a blue summer sky. Aso Ebi t...

FATE OR ILLUCK?

Image
I can hear history whisper to the present, But the historian is too busy with presents To give the morrow that is to be. Yesterday is gone, tomorrow is not yet here. There's an unending dialogue, Betwixt the kings and their heirs. Africa! Land of earthen beauty; Who sold her gold to buy earrings. Before the coming of the elder seaman, Africa drank the wines that dropped from their palm lines. Their rulers weren't just seated on the throne, They drew lines of greatness in the depths of the oceans. Folklores under the moonlight, Made every listener hold on to his folk's tail. Have you so soon forgotten Mansa Kanka Musa, Whose appearance at Hajj is likened to the rising of the morning sun? African rulers dictated the tides of the seas And spelt all the hands of time Wrote on Africa's sands of time. Fly me back in time. For the present is lame & the future is obscure. Rulers of hoarse voices. Drumming virtue, yet raining vices. Rulers of biza...
