A lost soul

The lost soul I was born and transferred to my grandma, Grandma clothed and feed me with Christianity. A young bright prospect to move forward the ministry. But growing up I lost it all My eyes become red and lips become tired. Death pay grandma a visit And I moved in with my parents, there it all started. Mom was a christian by name. Dad was a Muslim but also the same. My journey with Christ kiss a stop. I tried practicing Islam but couldn't not. I tried to be Islamised But my hands can't hold the doctrines. my soul is compromised and vacant. This vaccum led me to be plundering just like the Vikings did in those days. Just like Peter have denied God countless times and like the people of Jew have help crucified his son. Two captains in a canoe, Which one should I follow. This is prisoners dilemma theory. Now am in a stage of lacuna cos I don't know which way to go. Now tell me who am I? A lost soul? Agunbiade

My heart

I wrote your name on the wall, But after days it fell. I wrote your name on the sand, But rain washed it away. I wrote your name on my phone, But I gave it out as loan. I wrote your name on paper But it faded. I wrote your name on my mind. But with times I forgot. I wrote your name in my heart And things got changed. Cos it was engraved. My heart is more reliable than the greatest library of the world and the Pen of Shakespeare. I have you in my heart. Afolabi

Darkness won

Darkness won They are working and walking Like the clock of death. While day was funny and frown. Light lose the fight and darkness won. All birds lose but only bat won. Plant sleep but mosquitoes wake. Home feels good and full, all holes were closed And bed feels sad. Suddenly, the hands quit competing The two tress below keep mute, the force from the noise sound like a flute. The dove in the skull sleep and blood and water keep flying. Lungs and carbon dioxide made love and oxygen was jealous. Bad day good night. Afolabi

The peril and decline of Buganda Kingdom

The peril and decline of Buganda Kingdom From the goings on it appears that even the very vocal pretenders at Mengo actually don’t know the dynamics that has been at play since 1884 when whites first set foot in Buganda with trinkets to hoodwink royalty, and so the grave mistakes persist unabated. Columnists John Nagenda and Peter Mulira, both, no doubt, loyal to Buganda royalty have recently questioned where Buganda or perhaps more appropriately the current Mengo cultural establishment was heading especially with nostalgic intransigence against the NRM, central government and Uganda as a whole. From the goings on it appears that even the very vocal pretenders at Mengo actually don’t know the dynamics that has been at play since 1884 when whites first set foot in Buganda with trinkets to hoodwink royalty, and so the grave mistakes persist unabated. And so the squires are rapidly taking Mengo, not Buganda down the slippery slope to destruction unless they are urgently help...

Spanish Colonial Administration

Image
Spanish Colonial Administration First look at the table that lays out, schematically, the organization of Spanish colonial administration. At the head of the entire system was the monarch. He, or she, was assisted by the Council of the Indies, an advisory committee consisting mainly of lawyers. The king and the Council were normally resident in Spain. In the American colonies the senior officials were the viceroys. Until the 18th century, there were two viceroyalties: New Spain (i.e. Mexico) and Peru (i.e. Spanish South America). In the 18th century, two more were added: New Granada (centred on Santa Fe de Bogotá) in 1739, and Río de la Plata (centred on Buenos Aires) in 1776. Viceroys were above all executive officers; but they also had judicial and legislative powers. Beyond that, they were vice-patrons of the Church, and had direct control of the colonial treasury. Below the viceroys in the system were the Audiencias: regional courts of appeal that also served, espe...

How And What Made Oyo Empire Collapse?

Image
Shortly after Oyo Empire expanded her influence westwards, capturing Port Novo and making Dahomey (present-day Benin Republic) a vassal state pay tributes of 40 guns and 400 loads of cowries and corals regularly to Oyo, of course after phases of wars that made Oyo army a dread to the Dahomeyans, Alafin (Emperor) Labisi appointed a new Basorun (Prime Minister). To check the Alaafin from becoming too dictatorial, the Prime Minister according to the constitution could pass a vote of no confidence that would turn the Oyo Mesi (Legislators) against the Alaafin and an empty calabash would be handed to the emperor signaling that he was required commit suicide and pave way for a new Alaafin since the Oyo Mesi had lost confidence in his rule. The Basorun was a high priest controlling all the cults except Sango and Ifa, so this could make him declare that the ancestors and Heavens had lost confidence in an Alaafin. Prior to the appointment of Ga, the unwritten constitution of the ...

Early migrations into East Africa

Cushitic peoples Historical linguistic research has suggested that ancestral southern Cushitic peoples moved into the Turkana area from the north in Ethiopia around 5000 years ago. Fish remains have been found at early sites. Cushitic traditions abhors consumption of fish so by these findings, fish prohibition is a more recent phenomenon. The earliest livestock bones in East Africa were recovered at Dongodien, in the Koobi Fora area on the east side of Lake Turkana. Radiocarbon dating suggests an age of approximately four thousand years ago. Both bones of cattle (mostly Bos Taurus, a humpless species. Bos Indicus, or Zebu, a humped, more common today in the North was introduced starting from AD 100, from the East African coast) and goats, or caprines (goat-like), were recovered. More evidence dated to approximately thirty-five hundred to four thousand years ago was also excavated at the Ileret Stone Bowl site on the northeast side of Lake Turkana. By 4,000 years ago, the So...

Believe Against Believe

BELIEVE AGAINST BELIEVE They wrote us off, Treated us with so much hate, Sent us to prisons instead of college. The Judiciary hated us and gave us a panda’s bite. We grew up in this white and black nation That refuse to be gray, White against black like zebra. The stripes were clear, Discrimination could be seen Differences, bitterness and hatred. Blacks, sons of ex-slaves Sent to prisons instead of college, Cast to the bench, Painted inferior. But Martin believed; These black sons will rise from the bench To substitute those on high tables. Believing against the believe That black was less Martin saw black as the best. C. Timothy

The Right Man

THE RIGHT MAN The right man With learned mouth And instructed mind Like Martin Luther King Jr. The king, who commanded the affairs of our state, Constrained not his porous mouth Like a street gossipers Dishing out the very words That disfigured our democracy. "We just want to go to school" I heard its our right. "We want to become useful tool" Best this untutored head think it a fight. We are tired of constituted authority We need the right man. C. Poem

I liked men, They wound me. I loved women, They killed me. I hate God, He saved me.

MY SCHOOL

I was born with a plastic spoon, I have to make a golden spoon. I hardly had a good day at school, Though my teachers were from heaven, And some like the devil, My classroom had everything, But lacks comfort. Teachers bragging of handling over a hundred of us, They taught us that too much of everything is poisonous. In the classroom, We're like sands. You can't count. My teachers still looks good every morning. Their looks denies the headache, How can they miss class? Its easier than 40days fast. I attended that school. A school of gladiators. I wasn't the best, But I was surely far from the less. A few stayed focus, And many delights in derailing them and help them get lost, So many get rust. The school fence. Its was made of glass, Raise it today, to fall to pieces tomorrow. The chairs in our class, I'm not proud of any, even the ones in the front row. Make it good, future outlaws will pull it down. But I graduated, alive. That's a testimony. I wish I had more mon...
